Sunglint on the Alabama Stream

.In this particular June 26, 2023, picture taken from the International Spaceport station, direct sunlight shines off the smooth waters of the Alabama Stream in a sensation referred to as sunglint. When capturing on film Earth, astronauts often benefit from sunglint's tendency to increase the comparison between water areas and also surrounding property surfaces. In the 1960s, the Alabama Waterway was actually hindered, producing Dannelly Tank (the big polishing place at center left). Construction of the dam also raised water table upriver. This caused flooding at a number of points along the river. These flooded zones are traditional of floodplains-- the low, standard regions right away beside much larger streams. In this picture, flooded zones appear as irregular, intense forms stretching out of the stream, like at Gee's Bend (facility bottom).Text Credit Scores: Justin Wilkinson.Graphic Debt: NASA/Woody Hoburg.
